Wood Fence Construction in South Bismarck

Wood fence built in south Bismarck, ND

As has been mentioned on other pages on the Handyman Kota website, a large percentage of the fence projects we’ve been involved with are due to a homeowner looking to contain one or more dogs. This wood fence construction project in south Bismarck was only slightly different. Yes, Warren wanted to keep Yorkies in the yard but also some young grandchildren.

Warren had considered constructing the fence himself and requested a couple of labor estimates; one for digging post holes and setting the posts in concrete, and another for complete fence construction using material he was going to purchase from Menards. He decided to have Handyman Kota perform all construction on the fence.

Once utilities were marked, the power auger was rented and digging began. Near the back property line, flags and paint markings showed a “spaghetti plate” of utilities, which required altered placement of a couple of support posts. The spacing of two posts were brought closer together to avoid electrical and telecommunications utility lines and allow for cutting of eight-foot fence panels to accommodate the variation in post spacing.

The 6’ high fence was completed within a couple of days, including installation of 42” wide entry gate – ideal dimensions for containing dogs and kids while allowing ample access for moving material in and out of the yard.
